Chiara Jarrell

singing

career / background

Chiara Jarrell has always been passionate about music and dance. Her comprehensive perspective on the artistic world is varied and colorful thanks to her two forms of expression - lyrical singing and modern African dance styles.

After successfully completing her master's degree at the Basel University of Music and her previous bachelor's degree at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin, she was recently honored with the 2023 Music Prize of the Kiefer Habitzel and Göhner Foundation.

At the age of 20, she received first prize with distinction at the Swiss Youth Music Competition as well as two further prizes at the international Triomphe de l'Art competition in Brussels and at the Lions Club Competition Switzerland.

Her repertoire includes works from the Baroque period to contemporary music, with a particular devotion to the art form of song. She performs both as a soloist and in vocal ensembles, including the Zurich Chamber Singers, with whom she recently recorded a CD. In addition, she is regularly involved in educational projects to bring music closer to a wider audience.

Chiara is very much influenced by interdisciplinary performative art and develops a wide variety of projects. Within these modern forms of expression, she creates an innovative space in which she fuses seemingly different human existences and plays with their boundaries.
