Francesco Negrini

Clarinet

Career

Born in Italy in 1982, Francesco Negrini has been a lecturer in clarinet and chamber music at the Stella Vorarlberg University of Music (A) since 2014.
He has been principal clarinettist of argovia philharmonic Aarau since 2012, principal clarinettist of the City Light Symphony Orchestra Lucerne since 2018 and principal clarinettist of Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg Bregenz since 2020.

He regularly works in the same role with numerous orchestras and ensembles of European renown and has performed under the baton of conductors such as Nagano, Abbado, Gatti, Muti, Temirkanov and Gardiner in the world's most prestigious concert halls.


After studying with Th. Friedli and A. Carbonare, among others, he completed his soloist diploma with honours at the Basel Music Academy under F. Benda. He also studied orchestral conducting at the ZHdK and historical performance practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. 


Francesco Negrini has received around 25 national and international prizes and awards from instrumental competitions and institutions.

He is a passionate father of 3 boys, with whom he often takes to the green Hirzel, his place of residence. As a former competitive swimmer, he still relaxes in the indoor pool and otherwise indulges his passions for history, archaeology and anthropology.
