Johannes Frisch

violin

career / background

Johannes Frisch was born in 1976 and grew up in Bad Wurzach, Upper Swabia, Germany.

In addition to his love of nature, fine art and his interest in Native American culture, music is a passion that has lasted since childhood and adolescence.

After graduating from high school, he initially chose to study graphic design at the Ravensburg University of Applied Sciences. However, it quickly became clear that he was drawn to music, particularly historical performance practice.

He studied baroque violin in The Hague, Netherlands, with Monica Huggett, Pavlo Besnosiuk and Enrico Gatti. After a stay in Lyon, he settled in the Basel region. Since then, Johannes Frisch has worked as a freelance violinist, both as a soloist and as an orchestral musician, with a particular preference for chamber and vocal music.

He is a member of the La Cetra Baroque Orchestra Basel, is regularly engaged with the Belgian vocal ensemble Vox Luminis and appears with ensembles such as Les Cornets Noirs, Il Fuoco Eterno, Musica Fiata, Musica Fiorita, Il profondo, Le Poeme Harmonique and other formations.

His engagements have taken him to almost all European countries, the USA and Canada, China, South Korea, Chile, Bolivia and Argentina, Israel and Syria.
