Cellist Katarina Leskovar performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician. As a dynamic artist, her work has been recognized with several international awards, most recently the Tunnell Trust Award with the Talos String Quartet.
Katarina has performed in numerous prestigious concert halls, including the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Semperoper Dresden and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. She has also been invited to festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, Davos Festival, Warsaw Autumn, Ruhrtriennale, Klangspuren, Carinthian Summer, Festival Ljubljana and Hohenstaufen Festival.
She has a special interest in discovering the music of living composers and has premiered many new works by composers such as Beat Furrer, Thomas Kessler, Svetlana Maraš, Judit Varga, Uroš Rojko, Jean-Jacques Dünki. She was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and performed with the
Staatskapelle Dresden under Herbert Blomstedt, Jonathan Nott and Christian Thielemann.
She has performed as a soloist with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. Katarina completed her soloist studies at the Berlin University of the Arts and previously studied cello in Basel, Dresden and Graz with Danjulo Ishizaka and Julian Arp, as well as contemporary music with the ensemble zone expérimentale. She also completed an internship with the Basel Sinfonietta.
