Kazumi Suzuki Krapf, born in Tokyo, moved to Germany after studying at the Toho Gakuen School of Music (Tokyo, Japan), completed her artist diploma, her concert examination and – as a founding member together with the Trio Rinascimento (2004-2008) – additional studies in chamber music with the Alban Berg Quartet at the Cologne University of Music and chamber music courses at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with the Artemis Quartet in Brussels.
To date, she has won, among others, 2nd prize and the Paolo Borciani Prize at the 23rd International Michelangelo Abbado Violin Competition in Milan, 3rd prize at the 12th International Alberto Curci Violin Competition in Naples, a special jury prize at the International Jascha Heifetz Competition in Lithuania and 2nd prize at the 8th Japan Mozart Music Competition.
She has also played as a soloist with the Nagoya Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Chamber Orchestra, the Teatro di San Carlo Orchestra, the Chur Cölnisches Kammerorchester Bonn and the Classical Philharmonic Orchestra Bonn, with whom she has continued to play as concertmaster since 2002.
Kazumi Suzuki Krapf currently lives with her family in Basel and plays regularly with the Basel Chamber Orchestra (KOB), the Basel Symphony Orchestra (SOB) and is also active as a chamber musician in various ensembles.
She is also involved in promoting young talent.
