Werdegang / Hintergrund
Mara Miribung, born in Bolzano (I), grew up in a Ladin mountain valley in the Dolomites. She studied music at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. As a chamber and orchestral musician, she plays in international ensembles, including the Basel Chamber Orchestra, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, and Geneva Camerata.
As a soloist she plays with the Geneva Camerata in Basel, Hong Kong, Seoul and others. From 2015-2017 she was a guest lecturer for baroque cello at the Universidad Central in Bogotá, Colombia.
Mara composes and plays for dance productions (Vertical Dance Company Tempo di Borea) and works as a performer in the theater (Theater Basel, Residenztheater Munich, Staatsoper Berlin). She has a long-standing collaboration with the director Thom Luz.
With his productions she has performed at the Berlin Theatertreffen, the Kammerspiele Munich, the Venice Biennale, the Kampnagel Festival Hamburg, Vidy Lausanne, PDC Montpellier, Nowy Teatr Warsaw, Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, DeSingel Antwerp, Festspielhuas Hellerau, NET-Festival Moscow, Kaserne Basel and the Athens Theatre Festival.
In the ensemble TRËI, Mara sings in concert projects, theater productions and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her current solo project "Sad Songs for a Crocodile" is a collection of her own compositions: troubadour pop songs for cello, voice and looper. She lives as a freelance artist in Basel.
