The Belarusian flutist Maruta Staravoitava performs internationally with a diverse repertoire. An important part of her artistic work is her collaboration with composers, through which she has premiered numerous solo and chamber music works.
As a passionate chamber musician, she is a member of the ensemble Syntax (I), Castel Camerata (CH), Kommas (D) and the Ensemble Experimental of the SWR Experimental Studio Freiburg.
As part of her concert activities, she has played at various festivals in Europe, Asia, South America and the USA. Maruta Staravoitava was born in Minsk. She received her first flute lessons at the National Lyceum of Arts in her home town. She then studied with Mario Caroli at the National Conservatory in Strasbourg, with Felix Renggli at the Basel University of Music and with Marc Hantai at the Scola Cantorum Basiliensis.
Her interest in the most diverse forms of artistic expression eventually led her to the Bern University of the Arts, where she obtained a master's degree in "Théâtre Musical" under Françoise Rivalland. During her studies, she was supported by the "Nicati de Luze" Foundation in Lausanne, received the special prize from the Severino Gazzelloni Foundation in Florence, and unanimously won first prize in the UFAM competition in Versailles, third prize in the "Parnasse 2007" competition in Paris and second prize in the "Eugen Coca" competition in Chisnau.
