Tongue Drum
career / background
I was born in Japan as the youngest child in an open-minded family. I sang in the church choir and took piano lessons in kindergarten, and my passion for music grew throughout my life.
Due to an illness for which there is still no cure, I could no longer move my fingers as I wanted and had to give up playing the piano and harp. At the same time, writing became increasingly difficult, so I had to give up my long-standing job as a teacher.
Still, it was hard for me to get away from music, so I started looking for an instrument that I could play with my disability and came across the tongue drum. At first I played it just as a hobby, but then I was asked to teach others how to play and now I play and teach.
Performing for people who are bedridden or cannot go to concerts for some reason is always something very special for me. Even if it is only for a short time, it is a pleasure for me to share this musical experience with these people.
