Samuele Sorana is an Italian guitarist, composer, arranger and music teacher living in Basel, Switzerland.
Born in Italy (*1995, Jesi), he started playing classical guitar at the age of 10, encouraged by his family. His father, a music lover, introduced him to rock and progressive music and bands such as Pink Floyd, Area, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. After falling in love with the sound of this music, he switched to the electric bass. Later, at the age of 13, he switched to the electric guitar.
At the age of 16, Samuele Sorana began his first jazz studies with Paolo Sorci. In 2016 he began his bachelor's degree at the Conservatorio Gioacchino Rossini di Pesaro, where he studied with important musicians such as Bebo Ferra, Marc Abrams, Oscar Del Barba and Gian Marco Gualandi. In December 2018 he graduated with the highest grade.
In 2019 he left Italy for his first experience abroad in Glasgow. There he was musically active in the jazz environment and with his fado project with Mariana Arroja. He also performed several times in Scotland with his still active trio "Circle Jazz Trio".
In autumn 2019 he moved to Basel to study at the renowned Jazz Campus. There he completed two master's programs, one in musical performance and one in composition. Since 2023 he has been based in Basel, where he works as a freelance musician and guitar teacher.
